Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups grated apples A mix of sweet and tart apples recommended.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • as needed cooking spray For preventing sticking.
  • as needed powdered sugar For serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine grated apples, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until just blended. Avoid over-mixing.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Cooking

  • Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the basket, ensuring they are spaced apart.
  • Cook the fritters for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown.
  • Once cooked, carefully remove the fritters from the air fryer and set them aside to cool slightly.
  • Before serving, dust the fritters with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.

Notes

Serve warm, freshly dusted with powdered sugar. Great with coffee or ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to two days at room temperature, or up to a week in the refrigerator. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
