Ingredients

For the Meatloaf

  • 2 pounds Ground beef or a mix of beef, pork, and veal for added flavor
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs can substitute with gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Fresh herbs like parsley and basil
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese shredded, for stuffing
  • 1 cup Marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, eggs, minced garlic, and finely chopped onion.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and your favorite Italian herbs.
  • With your hands, shape the meat mixture into a rectangle on parchment paper.
  • Layer shredded mozzarella in the center of the meat rectangle.
  • Carefully roll the meat over the cheese, tucking in the sides to seal it.
  • Place it seam-side down in a baking dish and brush the top with marinara sauce.
  • Bake for about 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Let it rest before slicing for the perfect presentation.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, consider sautéing your garlic and onions before adding them into the meat mixture. Don't skip the resting period post-baking to allow the juices to redistribute.
