For the twists

  • 1 package Puff Pastry or pizza dough For a heartier texture, use pizza dough.
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened) Goat cheese can also be used for a tangy flavor.
  • 1 cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese Mozzarella can work as a substitute.
  • 2 medium Sliced Jalapenos Choose fresh for a crisp taste or pickled for a little tang.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can add more punch!
  • 1 large Egg For an egg wash; for a vegan option, milk works as well.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out your puff pastry on a lightly floured surface; if using pizza dough, roll directly from the package.
  • Cut the pastry into long strips, about 1 inch wide.
  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, sliced jalapeños, and garlic powder until well combined.
  • Spoon a line of the cheese mixture along the center of each pastry strip.
  • Twist the pastry around the filling, pinching the ends to seal.
  • Place the twists on the baking sheet and brush with the egg wash.
  • Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a creamy dipping sauce like ranch or blue cheese dressing. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days and reheat in the oven.
