  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 2 cups Chicken broth or water Make sure the chicken is fully covered.

Preparation

  • Begin by placing the chicken—your choice of breasts or thighs—into a slow cooker or a pot.
  • Generously season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste.
  • Pour in enough chicken broth or water to cover the chicken entirely.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours in the slow cooker, or simmer on the stovetop for about 20-30 minutes until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  • Shred the chicken using two forks, pulling it apart into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

To keep leftover shredded chicken fresh, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze in smaller portions. Always reheat to an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
