Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Can substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can use gluten-free blend for gluten-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup homemade salted caramel Used for drizzling on top.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well-combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mix to the wet mixture, stirring until you achieve a cohesive dough.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey bite.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each for spreading.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are crispy while the centers remain chewy.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool, then drizzle with your homemade salted caramel.

Notes

For the best results, use room temperature butter and ensure accurate flour measurement. Chill the dough for 30 minutes if it feels too soft before baking.
