  • to taste optional garnish: chopped fresh thyme, chives, or candied pecans For added flavor and presentation

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with foil. Place a wire rack on top.
  • In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, water, and all the spices. Mix well.
  • Dredge the bacon strips in the sugary mixture and lay them out on the rack.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Allow it to cool, then chop it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Brush the baguette slices with olive oil, season with a touch of salt and pepper, and toast them in the oven for 8–10 minutes, flipping once until they’re golden brown.
  • Spread a good amount of goat cheese on each toasted slice, pile on the crispy bacon pieces, and drizzle with maple syrup or hot honey.
  • For that extra touch, garnish with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of candied pecans.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven for best flavor and texture. Experiment with different cheeses like feta or burrata.
