  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Optional, can vary based on preference

Cooking

  • Combine granulated sugar, heavy cream, and unsalted butter in a medium saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring consistently until it comes to a gentle boil.
  • Let boil for about five minutes, without stirring, until it reaches a soft ball stage at 238°F.
  • Remove the pan from heat and stir in chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and nuts, if using.
  • Pour the creamy fudge mixture into a greased 8x8 inch pan.
  • Allow it to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

To keep leftovers fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or refrigerate for longer storage. Wrap individually and freeze for extended shelf life. Use a candy thermometer for accuracy in temperature.
