Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined (do not over-mix).
  • Transfer the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

For an extra special touch, serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Various garnishes like whipped cream, nuts, or fresh berries are also delightful. Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days. Refrigerate for a week or freeze for up to three months.
