  • 1.5 cups water Gradually added to form dough.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast Can substitute with active dry yeast, activated in warm water.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well.
  • Gradually pour in the water, stirring until a sticky dough forms.
  • Cover the bowl with a cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise overnight at room temperature.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F and place a Dutch oven inside to heat.
  • Once heated, carefully transfer your dough into the hot Dutch oven.
  • Cover it with the lid and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and continue to bake for another 15 minutes until the bread is perfectly golden brown and crusty.
  • Let it cool before slicing to ensure a clean cut.

Notes

Slice fresh and serve with butter or olive oil, use for sandwiches, toast for crunch, or make crostinis for entertaining. Wrap in plastic or store in a paper bag for freshness. Freeze sliced after cooling completely.
