  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced Slice to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For sautéing.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional) For a creamier texture.
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Thinly slice potatoes to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef; season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned.

Assembly

  • Grease a baking dish and layer half of the potato slices.
  • Top with half of the beef mixture, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
  • Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  • Pour beef broth over the entire dish, and add milk if using.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes.

Final Cooking

  • Remove foil, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until golden.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding vegetables like bell peppers, corn, or peas in between the layers. If you prefer a creamier casserole, don't hesitate to use the optional milk in your beef broth.
