Main Ingredients

  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular) You can use no-boil or regular lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (spicy or sweet) Choose according to your preference
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Use high-quality marinara for the best flavor
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Reserve some for topping
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Reserve some for mixing with ricotta
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped For garnish and added flavor
  • 1 large egg For mixing with ricotta

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked; be sure to stir occasionally.
  • Add the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes to meld the flavors together.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with the egg and half of the grated Parmesan until smooth and creamy.

Assembly

  • In a baking dish, layer marinara sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and mozzarella repetitively until all ingredients are used, making sure to finish with mozzarella on top.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes; then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  • Allow the lasagna to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Pair lasagna with a green salad or warm garlic bread. Truly satisfies and makes great leftovers!
