Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Use room temperature butter for best results.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs Beat in one at a time.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Feel free to substitute with other mix-ins.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually blend the dry mixture into the creamed mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them out.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers still look soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze them for up to three months. Reheat by thawing or warming in the microwave.
