  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is softened but not melted.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt If using salted butter, reduce added salt.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Add gradually to avoid overmixing.
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling For the salty finish.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and salt until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Baking

  • Scoop small balls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Press each ball down slightly and sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze dough or baked cookies for longer storage.
