Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground meat over medium heat. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Once the meat is cooked, mix in the marinara sauce and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Assembling and Baking

  • In a baking dish, start layering: spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom, then add a layer of noodles, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
  • Repeat the layers, ending with meat sauce on top, and finish with a generous layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Let the lasagna sit for a bit after baking to make slicing easier. Best served with a mixed greens salad or garlic bread. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to four days or frozen for up to three months.
