  • 500 g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch For coating the chicken
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For frying
  • 1 bell pepper diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit Adjust based on spice preference
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce Increase for more heat
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • to taste Salt
  • Rice for serving Serve alongside

Preparation

  • In a bowl, coat the chicken pieces with cornstarch and add a pinch of salt.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the chicken until golden and crispy. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

Cooking

  • In the same pan, add diced onion, bell pepper, green chilies, minced garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the vegetables are slightly tender.
  • Add soy sauce, chili sauce, ketchup, sugar, vinegar, and mix well to combine the flavors.
  • Toss in the fried chicken and stir until the chicken is well coated with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve hot with cooked rice.

Notes

For extra crunch, you can double fry the chicken pieces. Adjust the number of green chilies based on your heat preference. Feel free to add more vegetables like broccoli or carrots for added nutrition. If you want a thicker sauce, you can mix a teaspoon of cornstarch with water and add it to the sauce while cooking.
