Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is softened but not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup Christmas M&Ms Feel free to try other varieties.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips You can substitute with butterscotch chips for a different flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture and blend well.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined.
  • Fold in the Christmas M&Ms and chocolate chips gently to avoid breaking the candies.
  • Spread the batter into a greased baking pan, smoothing the top evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.
  • Let the bars cool in the pan before slicing them into generous squares.

Notes

Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, or serve with a fresh fruit platter or hot cocoa. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
