  • 2 large potatoes Peeled and cut into sticks
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour For dredging
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use panko for extra crunch
  • 1 large egg Beaten and seasoned
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • as needed oil for frying Vegetable or canola oil recommended
  • as needed dipping sauce Ranch, marinara, or aioli

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Peel and cut the potatoes into sticks.
  • Boil the sticks in a pot of salted water for about 5 minutes until just tender. Drain and let cool.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg and season with salt and pepper.
  • Dredge each potato stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, and coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat until hot.
  • Fry the potato sticks for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove them from the oil and let drain on paper towels.

Serving

  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

For storing leftovers, let them cool completely and place in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven or air fryer for best results. Consider adding spices like garlic powder or paprika for flavor variations. Sweet potatoes can be used for a twist.
