Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 medium bananas Opt for firm, yellow ones with minimal spots for the best texture.
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar Can substitute with brown sugar for a more caramel-like sweetness.
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon This is where the magic happens!
  • Cooking spray Optional, but helps prevent sticking.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick for even cooking.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 330°F (165°C) and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or line it with perforated parchment paper.

Mixing

  • In a small bowl, mix the coconut sugar and cinnamon together until blended. Set aside.
  • Toss the banana slices gently in a mixing bowl with the cinnamon-sugar blend until lightly coated.

Cooking

  • Place the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overlap.
  • Air fry for 10-14 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crisping. They're done when golden brown and crisp around the edges. Additional cooking time may be needed based on thickness.
  • Let the chips cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes to become even crisper.

Notes

For serving, these chips are fantastic on their own, with almond butter or yogurt for dipping, or as a topping for granola or nice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days, or freeze for longer storage, keeping in mind the potential texture change. Adjust the cinnamon and sugar to your taste.
