Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted, ensure it's not boiling.
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For a comforting flavor.

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 1 cup chopped apples Use tart apples for best flavor.
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling Optional, for serving.
  • Ice cream for serving Optional, for a la mode.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar until well combined and smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs and add the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Don’t overmix!
  • Gently fold in the chopped apples to ensure they're evenly distributed.
  • Pour your batter into the greased baking pan, spreading it out evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. The top should be golden and a toothpick should come out clean when inserted in the center.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for a bit before slicing into squares.

Serving

  • Drizzle with caramel sauce and, if desired, serve with a scoop of ice cream on the side.

Notes

For variation, substitute apples with pears or add white chocolate chips and nuts. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or a week refrigerated.
