  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Essential for fluffy texture
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted Can substitute with other oils if desired
  • 1/2 cup almond milk Any plant-based milk can be used
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar Can replace with other sugar types

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Mix with coconut sugar for topping
  • Cooking spray Cooking spray For air frying

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix the melted coconut oil, almond milk, and coconut sugar until smooth.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  • Shape the dough into small bite-sized pieces and set aside.

Cooking

  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the churro bites in a single layer.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and a bit of coconut sugar.
  • Once cooked, sprinkle the churro bites generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Notes

Best served warm with vegan chocolate sauce or coconut whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days, or freeze for a month.
