  • 1 pound sausage meat Feel free to use your preferred sausage for enhanced flavor.
  • 1 package puff pastry Store-bought is perfectly fine and saves you time.
  • 1 large egg (beaten for egg wash) This gives the rolls that beautiful golden color.

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Optional Ingredients

  • Chopped onion Can amp up the flavor.
  • Additional herbs To enhance flavor further.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sausage meat with your selected spices (and optional ingredients if using).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into rectangles.
  • Place a generous spoonful of the sausage mixture in the center of each rectangle.
  • Carefully fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges with a fork to create a nice, tight seal.
  • Brush the tops of your rolls with beaten egg to achieve a lovely golden finish.

Baking

  • Arrange them on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
  • Serve them warm as a delightful appetizer.

Notes

Try not to overfill the pastry to prevent leaks during baking. Keep the puff pastry cold until you’re ready to work with it for the best flakiness. Experiment with your spice blends for a different taste.
