  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional) Optional for additional flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (like oregano or thyme, optional) Optional for flavor enhancement.

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk Can substitute with almond, soy, or oat milk for non-dairy version.
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter Choose based on preference.
  • 1 large egg Can substitute with 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce for vegan option.

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite) Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Whisk until well combined.
  • Fold in the shredded cheese until evenly coated with the flour mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and the egg until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Baking

  • Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray or butter, or line it with parchment paper.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese on top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled for at least 20 minutes, slice with a serrated knife.

Notes

Store cheese bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. If storing longer, freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes until warmed through.
