Ingredients
  

Wrapper

  • 12 leaves Cabbage leaves Fresh leaves are best for flavor and texture.

Filling

  • 1 lb Ground meat (chicken, turkey, or pork) Can also use lentils or beans for a vegetarian option.
  • 1 cup Chopped onions
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 cup Carrots (grated)
  • to taste Optional: Herbs like parsley or dill

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Carefully add the cabbage leaves and blanch them for a few minutes until they are pliable. Drain and set aside to cool.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onions, minced garlic, grated carrots, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and any optional herbs you wish to include. Mix well until fully incorporated.

Assembly

  • Take a blanched cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center. Fold the sides over the filling and roll it tightly to form a dumpling. Repeat the process until all the filling is used.

Cooking

  • Place the dumplings in a steamer basket and steam them for about 20-25 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked.

Serving

  • Remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve hot. Optionally, provide a dipping sauce for added flavor.

Notes

Cabbage Dumplings can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or frozen for up to three months. To serve with, consider soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, or a tangy vinegar-based dipping sauce.
