Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 250 gr apples Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 1 pc egg Separate the egg yolk and white.
  • 125 gr flour
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • A little ml rum Use flavored rum for extra depth.
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cut the apples into ½ cm thick slices, carefully removing the core.
  • In a bowl, mix the rum with sugar. Add the apple slices and gently mix to coat them, leaving to infuse for 30 minutes.

Batter Preparation

  • In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, and add a pinch of salt.
  • Mix in a little water and the egg yolk to create a smooth batter.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg white until stiff peaks form and gently fold it into the batter.

Frying

  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Dip each apple slice into the batter to coat well.
  • Fry the slices in the hot oil until they turn golden brown.
  • Remove fritters from oil and place them on a kitchen towel to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve hot or cold, sprinkled with additional sugar if desired.

Notes

These fritters can be served with ice cream or whipped cream. For storage, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
