Ingredients

Fritter Ingredients

  • 2 medium medium firm apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced Choose firm apples for the best flavor.
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 teaspoons water (adjust for consistency) Use water as needed to achieve desired glaze consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel, core, and dice the apples into small chunks. Toss them with a little cinnamon and sugar to infuse extra flavor, then set aside.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg. Add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Carefully fold in the diced apples to maintain a light batter.

Baking

  • Drop dollops of batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space for puffing.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes, or until golden and fully cooked through.

Making the Glaze

  • While baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and enough water until you achieve a smooth drizzle consistency.
  • After baking, let the fritters cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze. Serve warm for the best taste experience!

Notes

Baked apple fritters are best enjoyed warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or refrigerate for up to a week. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving for the best texture.
