Bread Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can be substituted with whole wheat flour.
  • 1 cup warm water Make sure it's warm, not hot.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Can be substituted with instant yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Can be substituted with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Optional.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  • Stir in the flour and salt until a dough begins to form. If you're using olive oil, add it now and mix well.
  • Knead the dough for a few minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a warm spot to rise for 10-15 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Shape the dough into a loaf or roll it into small balls. Arrange them on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  • Allow it to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Wrap leftover bread tightly in plastic wrap or foil and store at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, slice and freeze.
