Ingredients
  

For the Brownie Base

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional) Add for extra chocolate flavor

For the Tiramisu Layer

  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually combine the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just mixed. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Tiramisu Layer

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, espresso (or coffee), and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  • Once the brownies are cooled, spread the tiramisu layer evenly on top. Smooth the surface with a spatula.

Chilling

  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the tiramisu layer to set.

Serving

  • Dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder, slice into squares, and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can also freeze individual squares for up to a month; wrap tightly.
